Who am I?
Mother...daughter...sister...friend...artist...therapist...the list goes on.
We are taught from a young age to define ourselves, to create an “Identity.” Today I
know that I am infinite and indefinite.... a work in progress... limitless. Therefore, I try not
to label myself. I will just say that “I am” and I enjoy doing many things. I aspire to be the
change that I want to see in this world and make it a better place in whatever way I can,
by being inspired and inspiring those around me to do the same. Together we can make
a positive difference.
I graduated from the University of Toronto with a BA in Fine art and history. I began
a career as a banker and I enjoyed being able to help my community organize their
finances and set themselves up for a better future. I drew and wrote in my spare time
as a hobby, while enjoying and capturing the beauty of the world around me through
the lens of my camera. Life threw me a curve ball as it tends to do, limiting my ability to
continue my career as a banker and I eventually decided to roll with it. After coming to
terms with my choices and my limitations, I decided to go back to school and became a
Spiritual psychotherapist continuing my passion for helping people. I continue to work
on improving myself, learning something new every day and have returned to art to
help me express myself and often cope with the craziness that is “life.” Art inspires, it
soothes, it heals, it is the drug that helps carry me through the tough times and brings
the sun back out again.
-Gina Miranda
Gina Miranda is another artist I came across on Instagram and I was once again immediately drawn to her work. The level of detail and subtle use of colour mixed with black and white is truly stunning. Her work "Balance" is soft and feminine, but at the same time exhibits strength. Here is the work of another talented createur out of Toronto using art as her expression.
"Balance"
"Wolf Totem"
"Fathers Love"
